Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort

Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort is located on the picturesque Malabar Coast in the southern Indian province of Kerala. Only a 30 minute drive from the International Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram)  The resort stretches direct along the beach, away from mass tourism, in the quiet neighbourhood of the village of Chowara. Kerala is the southernmost state of India and with its tropical forests probably also the greenest. India is not only an exciting destination because of its flora and fauna, its palaces and temples, the traditional villages, national parks, rice fields and tea plantations, but a  special attraction are the romantic houseboat trips to the famous backwaters.

Somatheeram is nestled in a tropical garden, which covers about five hectares. It is surrounded by palm-trees, mango trees and many other tropical plants. In the garden you find more than 200 different, sometimes rare, Ayurvedic medicinal plants. The terraced-built resort enables a magnificent view of the seemingly endless Malabar coast and a direct access to the sea. Narrow paths-ways lead you past sculptures and plants down to the white beach.  If you are an early riser you have the opportunity to experience Indian culture first hand:  for example by accompanying the fishermen of the neighbouring village when they set their nets.

Standard Cottages (Non A/C)
These cottages are located in the upper part of the resort and are a bit darker than the others due to the denser construction. They are made of natural or brick material in typical South Indian construction and offer with their simple design a cheap accommodation option. Each is equipped with a bedroom and a bathroom.

Special cottages (A/C)
These cottages are located in the lower, oceanfront part of the complex. Detached and with its own outdoor seating area, you can enjoy sea views directly from the room or from the terrace, depending on the location.

New: Deluxe Cottages (A/C)
The elegant deluxe bungalows are spacious, flooded with natural light and equipped with air conditioning, shower baths and electric kettles. Their privileged location within the resort offers first-class sea views from the terrace or through one of the spacious bay windows.

Standard & Deluxe Kerala Houses (A/C)
These traditional houses are up to 300 years old and have been extensively restored. The wooden construction and the use of antique doors and furniture makes their unique charm.

The standard houses have a bedroom and a bathroom. The Deluxe houses are more spacious and have an additional living room area depending on the house.

Sidharta Deluxe Suite (A/C)
This villa offers a spacious living room and bedroom. From the private terrace you can enjoy an incomparable panoramic view of the sea. Another highlight awaits you: an open-air bath.
