Hiru Ayurveda Resorts

Four small Ayurveda resorts on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka invite you to relax and are collectively known as Hiru Ayurveda Resorts. Located just 2 hours from the airport in Colombo you will first reach the original Hiru Villa, followed by Hiru Beach and Hiru Mudra as well as Hiru Aadya – the newest addition to Hiru Ayurveda Resorts. Each of the houses has its very own flair and is looked after by a dedicated team and professional Ayurveda doctors.

Hiru Villa – Ayurveda Resort in Maggona

The first of the three Ayurveda resorts is a former colonial house and has recently been renovated. It is located in the town of Maggona and owes its name to the “sun” (“hiru” in Sinhalese). Surrounded by a tropical garden with flowering plants, the Hiru Villa is located on a rocky peninsula some 20 meters above the Indian Ocean. The idyllic place offers an ideal retreat for your Ayurveda cure including yoga.

The Singhala-style Ayurveda Resort has just 15 spacious and beautifully designed rooms with breathtaking views from the terrace or balcony. In the garden you will find sun loungers and hammocks to relax and unwind. Due to its location you will often encounter a soft breeze, which creates a pleasant cooling sensation in hot months.

A small path with steep stairs leads to the sea and the nearby fishermens beach on both sides. One of the two beaches is suitable for experienced swimmers. In several places there is also the possibility for snorkeling or diving.

The Ayurveda Restaurant serves Singhala and Ayurvedic cuisine. The menus are set and you can choose between purely vegetarian or meals with fish and poultry. The focus is laid upon an individual diet based on your Dosha balance.

The Ayurveda center in the Hiru Villa consists of six treatment rooms and is run by professional Ayurveda doctors with the help of qualified therapists. The chief physician has a chair in an Ayurveda Teaching Hospital and also teaches at the University of Colombo. After a detailed initial consultation, your individual health plan will be compiled. The combination of treatments, nutrition and Ayurvedic medicine helps to reconcile body, soul and spirit. If required, a German-speaking translator will be available for you.

To complement the offer of the Ayurveda cure Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation and music therapy take place regularly. For yoga and meditation there is a gazebo with sea views. There are also occasional lectures and cooking workshops, as well as dance and music performances. Excursions in the area can be booked in the Ayurveda Resort to the botanical garden in Beruwela, the lighthouse island or the temples of the city.

Hiru Beach – Ayurveda Resort Kosgoda

This Ayurveda resort is located directly on the beautiful beach of Kosgoda and is in no way inferior to its sister property in unique charm. In the exotic garden, the coconut palms sway in the gentle breeze and the spacious pool offers a possibility for cooling off and refreshment. The sound of the sea accompanies you throughout your Ayurveda cure including yoga at Hiru Beach, whether in the morning or in the evening, making it easy for you to escape from everyday life.

The only 9 inviting and spacious rooms at Hiru Beach feature harmonious color schemes and a combination of colonial and traditional Sri Lankan elements. All are equipped with a balcony facing the sea. On the third and fourth floors of the Ayurveda resort there is a suite with a living room, a larger bathroom and a gallery with two beds. All lounge areas are openly designed, allowing a permanent view of the garden or the sea.

At the Ayurveda restaurant of Hiru Beach you can enjoy ayurvedic meals tailored to your individual Dosha type. Cooking classes offer you the opportunity to learn more about the Ayurveda cuisine and prepare it for yourself at home.

The treatments of your Ayurveda cure are carried out at the Ayurveda center, where you will be looked after by a professional and qualified team of doctors and therapists. Of course, after the detailed initial diagnosis, your treatments will be tailored to your individual needs and, if required, a German-speaking translator will be available for you. The Ayurvedic medicine is taken from the in-house pharmacy and the doctors are happy to explain how it is made and used.

Hiru Beach also has a yoga pavilion for regular yoga and meditation classes, as well as tai chi and music therapy. In addition to a library and alternating evening events, there is also the possibility to make excursions in the area, such as to the turtle farm, moonstone mine or the city Galle.

Hiru Mudra – Ayurveda Resort Induruwa

Hiru Mudra is located in the village of Induruwa, still relatively untouched by tourism, right on the beach. It benefits from the experience of the other two sister resorts and also offers you a very personal and familiar atmosphere. Rest and soak up strength during your Ayurveda cure including yoga and let your thoughts wander during a walk on the long sandy beach.

The Hiru Mudra owes its name to the symbolic hand gesture that translates to “that which brings joy”. Be inspired and draw new energy in the garden adjacent to the beach or in one of the many lounges or sundecks.

The only 11 rooms in the main building are spread over three floors and are very bright and spacious. From your balcony you can enjoy the wonderful view over palm trees, beach and sea. On the roof terrace you can enjoy the view even better.

Following the doctors dietary recommendations, the Ayurveda restaurant at Hiru Mudra offers personalized meals. You can also attend lectures on ayurvedic nutrition and benefit from detailed tips for a balanced diet in everyday life.

In the pleasant atmosphere of the separate Ayurveda center, well-trained and experienced doctors and therapists assist you in your Ayurveda treatment. Based on the initial consultation, the right combination of treatments and nutrition will be put together for you.

A small yoga platform is also located near the Ayurveda center. During your stay at the resort, you can take part in regular yoga, meditation and thai chi sessions as well as music therapy.

The Hiru Mudra excursions are similar to Hiru Beach due to its location: explore the turtle farm in Kosgoda or the port town of Galle.

Hiru Aadya – Ayurveda Resort Ahungalla

The latest Hiru Resort is located in Ahungalla and boasts a beautifully landscaped garden, the center of which is set an inviting pool. Find the ideal place for rest and relaxation during your Ayurveda treatment including yoga at Hiru Aadya Ayurveda Resort. A special highlight is the nearby, beautiful beach section, which you reach after only a few minutes on foot.

There are only five one-storey bungalows on the grounds of the Ayurveda resort, each with one room with the terrace on the ground floor and one room on the first floor with a balcony. The bungalows are all facing the pool and the garden with its small paths and a pond. Listen to the birdsong and make yourself comfortable on one of the sun loungers.

During your Ayurveda treatment including yoga, you will be looked after by the Ayurveda team of the Aadya Ayurveda Resort, which consists of 2 doctors and 6 therapists. After the initial consultation, the elements of the classic Panchakamra treatment are tailored to your individual needs and you enjoy up to 5 treatments a day, including oil massages and herbal and steam baths, in the Ayurveda center with six treatment rooms. The program is rounded off with daily yoga, tai chi, meditation and music therapy.

Of course, Ayurvedic cuisine with variety of dishes, which are also individually tailored to you, awaits you. Meals are served in the airy pavilion restaurant, which also overlooks the garden. Hiru Aadya Ayurveda Resort also has a lobby lounge and a library lounge.

In Ahungalla there are also some excursions – you can take beach walks and bike rides and visit the small town of Ahungalla. In nearby Kosgoda there is a turtle sanctuary to discover and a little further south you can visit the port town of Galle.

The double rooms (about 48 sqm) are equipped with a balcony or terrace with sea view, four-poster bed with mosquito net, shower / WC, fan, hairdryer, safe and Wi-Fi. Some rooms have air conditioning (for a surcharge). TVs are intentionally omitted.

The double rooms (about 43 sqm) feature a balcony facing the sea, bed with mosquito net, shower / WC, hair dryer, fan, air conditioning, telephone, safe, fridge, kettle and Wi-Fi.

The suite (about 86 sqm) also offers a separate living room, a larger bathroom with bathtub and a gallery with two beds.

The double rooms (about 52 sqm) are equipped with a balcony with sea view, bed with mosquito net, shower / WC, hairdryer, fan / air conditioning, telephone, safe, refrigerator, tea set and mosquito net. Wi-Fi is available in the common areas.

The simple guest rooms (about 40 square meters) are very inviting and cozy due to the contrast of the light walls and dark woods. Facilities include a beautiful four-poster bed with mosquito net, a modern bathroom, air conditioning (extra charge) and a fan, fridge and kettle, safe, hairdryer and Wi-Fi.
