Thaulle Resort

The Thaulle Resort offers a picturesque retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility and is located directly on the idyllic Yoda Lake in Thissamaharama in the south of Sri Lanka. After an approx. 5-hour transfer from Colombo, this hospitable design hotel with its own Ayurveda center and sustainable concept is embedded in an untouched culture and jungle landscape.

Sri Lankas oldest conservation area is just a short distance away: the Yala National Park. In addition to this impressive flora and fauna, you can discover the original and diverse Sri Lanka e. g. by visiting the temple in Kataragama. Or relax in the seclusion of the beautiful, miles-long Kirinda Beach. It is only a 10-minute drive from the Thaulle Resort (free shuttle service) and offers a private section for hotel guests only.

The Thaulle Resort consists of two open-plan, multi-storey residential buildings surrounded by gardens, one of which is exclusively reserved for the Ayurveda guests. All 28 rooms are individually decorated and combined Western comfort with Sinhala craftsmanship. Enjoy the rising sun, when it glistens in the morning on the surface of Yoda Lake – each room has a window front with a balcony.

On the ground floor of one building you will find the main restaurant (a la carte), which also has a wonderful view of the lake, as well as the lobby and reception. Let yourself be pampered in the restaurant with lovingly combined culinary delights. The restaurant, which is separate for Ayurveda guests, is located in the Ayurveda center, where specialists of the Ayurvedic cuisine will care for your physical wellbeing (buffet). Only fresh ingredients are used, some even from the house garden. On the ground floor of the second building the pool with terrace, a juice bar and a sunbathing area.

Another feature of this resort is its particularly favorable location: the region is mostly spared during the rainy season (April to June) from rainfall.

The Ayurveda Center is separated from the rest of the hotel to provide maximum privacy during your treatments. It consists of six private treatment rooms and offers its own pharmacy with a selection of certified Ayurvedic medicines. For beginners and relaxation seekers individual Ayurveda treatments are offered as well as a wellness cure or a more intensive Panchakarma cure.

The Chief Physician Dr. Upul is supported by a qualified therapist team and has 15 years of experience in treating European spa guests. The treatments and cures are adapted to your personal needs and are based on a holistic concept that also includes nutrition, medication and yoga. During your stay, you will be assisted in German and English.

Procedure of a wellness cure (at least 6 days): Firstly, the doctor will examine you. Then you will get your individual daily treatment plan, arranged according to the Panchakarma principles. All treatments are performed under the supervision of the doctor. At the end of your cure you have a final consultation.

Procedure of a Panchakarma cure (at least 12 or 18 days): At the beginning, you will be examined by the doctor and will conduct a detailed preliminary discussion. He then organizes your individual treatment plan based on your body constitution and explains the exact sequence. The daily ayurvedic treatment lasts approximately two and a half hours and consists of three to four different massages as well as purifying baths and oils. Supported by the Ayurveda diet and medicine that you take twice daily with your meals, your body is detoxified and vitalized. During your cure, the doctor will check your treatments, medicine and food to make sure you feel comfortable. At the end of your cure you have a final consultation.
